It’s the honor of a lifetime for a chef to compete in the international culinary Olympics. This month, two chefs from west Michigan are making the trip to Germany to cook for the title. Tom Giles is the Certified Executive Chef at Western Michigan University and will be competing with the Michigan’s Great Lakes Culinary Team.
It’s Tom’s second international competition. He competed in Luxembourg at the Villeroy & Boch Culinary World Cup in 2014 receiving a Bronze Medal. Also competing is Nate Shaw, the sous chef of Webster’s Prime in Kalamazoo.
