K-WINGS ANNOUNCE SEASON-OPENING ROSTER

Kalamazoo reveals its final roster heading into its 46th season, which starts Saturday in Fort Wayne.

 

KALAMAZOO, MI – The Kalamazoo Wings, proud ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Vancouver Canucks, announced its season-opening roster Thursday ahead of the team’s 46thseason. The roster consists of 14 forwards, 8 defensemen and two goaltenders.

Defensemen (8): Cory Dunn (SPC), Ian Edmondson (SPC), Zach Frye (AHL), Tyler Ganly (SPC), Eric Kattelus (SPC), Aaron Thow (AHL), Matt VanVoorhis (SPC), Ben Wilson (SPC)

 

Forwards (14): Kyle Blaney (SPC), Adam Dauda (SPC), Zach Diamantoni (SPC), Matt Iacopelli (SPC), Justin Kovacs (SPC), Boston Leier (ECHL), David Pope (NHL), Zach Saar (SPC), Dylan Sadowy (AHL), Luke Sandler (SPC), Brennan Sanford (SPC), Tanner Sorenson (AHL), Justin Taylor (SPC), Yannick Veilleux (SPC)

Teams are allowed to carry 23 players on their active roster for the first month of the season, not including players listed on injured reserve. Kalamazoo placed defenseman Eric Kattelus on injured reserve to start the season, as well as forwards Kyle Blaney and Zach Saar.

 

Kalamazoo also acquired defenseman Connor Schmidt from the Toledo Walleye for future considerations late Wednesday, after the above list was submitted to the ECHL.

 

The K-Wings open the season Saturday in Fort Wayne with a 7:35 p.m. face-off against the Komets at Memorial Coliseum. Fans can listen to the game on AM 1660 The Fan in Kalamazoo or watch online on ECHL TV. The team will also be hosting an official Watch Party out at Old Burdick’s at Wings West, starting at 7:00 p.m., featuring prize giveaways as well as food and drink specials.

 

The K-Wings’ 46th Home Opener is Saturday, Oct. 19 against the Cincinnati Cyclones at 7:00 p.m. at the Wings Event Center, following Fan Fest leading up to the game. Tickets are on sale now, starting at just $10. Fan Fest will feature food trucks, a player red carpet, a bouncy house, live music and new this year, a Smash Car, where fans can pay a small donation to hit a car with a sledgehammer, benefiting the Southwest Michigan Miracle League.
